North Strabane Township police are investigating a bank robbery Wednesday morning, the second this week in Washington County.

According to police, officers were called to the First National Bank branch at 2620 Washington Road around 9:50 a.m.

According to police, a man entered the bank and handed a bank teller a threatening note demanding money. Police surveillance footage shows the man wearing a hat and surgical mask.

It is not clear how much money the suspect took. North Strabane Police Cpt. Matthew Mancini said the man showed no weapons but declined to comment further on the investigation other than a press release on the department’s Facebook page.

The incident resembled a bank robbery in Washington Monday morning. A man wearing a hood and a surgical mask walked into the Washington Financial Bank on East Wylie Avenue and handed a teller a note demanding money. The note also threatened the lives of people inside if the cashier didn’t comply.

During that robbery, the perpetrator got a few hundred dollars from the cash drawer, according to Washington police.

Washington police also responded to the scene of the North Strabane robbery Wednesday morning. Investigators are trying to determine if the robberies are related, but Mancini said it is not clear at this time.

North Strabane contacted the FBI to assist with the investigation.
