Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control at a building in Susquehanna Township

SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, PA — A major fire broke out early this morning at an apartment complex under construction on Russel Dr, Susquehanna Township. The fire, which was reported at about 5:25 a.m., is believed to have started after the building was struck by lightning.

Upon their arrival, Susquehanna Police Chief 32 confirmed the fire was coming from the top floor of the three-story, 200-by-75-foot building. Fire units responded immediately, arriving on scene within six minutes of dispatch. The fire was successfully under control within 50 minutes.

Approximately 50 firefighters from several departments, including Susquehanna Twp, Lower Paxton Twp, Swatara Twp, Penbrook, Northeast Fire and Rescue (Enola), Harrisburg City, West Shore Bureau of Fire (Lemoyne) and Susquehanna Township EMS, were involved in the operation. .

No injuries were reported among the emergency responders present on site.
