Florida State and Oklahoma will meet earlier than usual in the 2024 NCAA softball tournament.

FSU softball lost to OU in the 2021 and 2023 Women’s College World Series championship series. This time, the Seminoles and Sooners will compete in the super regionals, with a spot in Oklahoma City on the line.

FSU (46-14, 19-5 in ACC) won its regional, rallying late to beat Chattanooga before cruising past UCF and Auburn. Oklahoma (52-6, 22-5 in Big 12) also defeated all in regional competition and held off Oregon in the final round. The Seminoles and Sooners have two of the top six offenses in the NCAA, allowing 7.52 and 8.07 runs per game, respectively. FSU is led by third baseman Jaysoni Beachum, one of the nation’s top freshmen with a .425 batting average and 65 RBIs, as well as catcher Michaela Edenfield (15 home runs) and Kalei Harding (64 RBIs).

OU has shortstop Tiare Jennings, whose 21 home runs and 62 RBIs are among the best in the country, and center fielder Jayda Coleman (.538 on-base percentage). But the Sooners also have an elite pitching staff: behind Kelly Maxwell and Keirston Deal, their team ERA of 1.82 is sixth-best in the NCAA.
