Will Mavericks’ Luka Doncic play against Thunder? Latest Game 6 injury update

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks will host the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday night. Dallas has a chance to get a series win. However, Luka Doncic is again listed on the injury report.

Doncic has battled injuries throughout the series but has yet to miss a game. He has played hard and despite struggling at times, Doncic came back with a 31-point triple-double in Game 5.

The Mavs have also emerged as a team. Kyrie Irving has played the role of orchestrator, often leading the team with his offensive distribution and defensive hustle.

PJ Washington was one of the Mavericks’ best scorers in the series. Derrick Jones Jr., Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II also had big moments.

However, when Doncic performs well, this Mavericks team is difficult to stop. Will Luka Doncic play against the Thunder tonight?

Luka Doncic’s injury status for Game 6 vs. Thunder

Doncic is listed as likely with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness. Maxi Kleber has a chance to return to the postseason if Dallas advances, but he has been ruled out for Game 6 due to a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Olivier-Maxence Prosper is also out due to a sprained left ankle.

As mentioned, Doncic was quite inefficient with his shooting before Game 5. He turned a corner in Game 5 with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Doncic also finished the game on 12-22 (54.5 percent) shooting from the field and 5-11 (45.5 percent) shooting from beyond the arc.

It felt inevitable that Luka would have a huge game at some point. He still found ways to help the team get wins, but the Mavs needed a vintage Luka Doncic performance. And that’s exactly what they got in Game 5.

Maybe Doncic will perform well again in Game 6. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see Kyrie Irving put together his first big scoring performance of the series. Kyrie is more than capable of lighting up the scoreboard on any given night.

As for Doncic, his willingness to play despite injuries is admirable. Mavs head coach Jason Kidd discussed the issue while speaking to reporters on Friday.

“It just shows his toughness,” Kidd said. “His will to help the team win. He was beaten up. He goes out there and plays and understands that the physicality is going to be high that he has to go through. “Again, just what he’s given us has helped us win games and that’s what we’re going to need tomorrow night.”

Doncic has refused to complain or apologize about his injuries. He is focused on helping the Mavericks win in the NBA playoffs. Now Dallas is just one win away from their second Western Conference Finals appearance in the last three years.

As for whether Luka Doncic will play tonight in Game 6 vs the Thunder, the answer is probably.
