Top 2025 DL Iose Epenesa sets official visit date for Utah

Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes received some great news Saturday morning with the update of 2025 four-star defensive lineman Iose Epenesa taking an official visit to Salt Lake City.

Epenesa announced he would make five official visits to Penn State, Missouri, Iowa, Utah and Miami in the coming months.

Coming out of Edwardsville High School in the class of 2025, Epenesa is listed as a four-star prospect and the 20th-ranked player in the country by the 247Sports index. He also checks in as the third-ranked player at his position and the highest-ranked player in the state of Illinois.

To say football runs in the Epenesa family might be an understatement, as Iose’s older brother, AJ, is a defensive player on the Buffalo Bills roster and is coming off his best season as a pro with 6.5 sacks.

247Sports Scouting analyst Gabe Brooks evaluated the Illinois native, saying: “Potential role and scheme versatile defensive lineman with impressive functional athleticism and a hot motor. Elite throws athlete whose enormous shot put and discus power manifests itself in punches and hand force at the point of attack. Flashes an anvil of an inside hand as an edge rusher. Looks to be one of the top defensive prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Projects as an impactful defensive strongman who could become an early NFL Draft candidate.

While the Utes will have to compete with some impressive programs to land Epenesa’s services, the news of an official visit is something great to get excited about.
