Padres’ Profar’s first All-Star nomination has a Texas flair, 12 years after his Rangers debut

ARLINGTON, Texas — Jurickson Profar’s first All-Star Game appearance is scheduled for the home of the Texas Rangers 12 years after he made his debut for them. The San Diego left fielder is now a 31-year-old veteran. Profar was a precocious 19-year-old when he made his first major-league at-bat for the Rangers in Cleveland in 2012. Injuries derailed a promising career in Texas. Trades to Oakland and San Diego followed. His most consistent years were with the Padres. Those formative years will be remembered on July 16 at Globe Life Field.
