New AEW TNT Champion Crowned at Forbidden Door – TJR Wrestling

The TNT Championship now has a home again after Forbidden Door, as an AEW star from New York City emerged with the title.

After retaining the title at Double Or Nothing, Adam Copeland was forced to vacate the TNT title after breaking his leg in his title fight with Malakai Black.

The Young Bucks, in their role as EVPs, attempted to simply drop the title to Jack Perry, but Tony Khan had other plans and created a six-way ladder match for Forbidden Door, giving stars the chance to qualify for a shot at the title.

Ultimately, it was up to Jack Perry, Mark Briscoe, Konosuke Takeshita, Lio Rush, Dante Martin and El Phantasmo to battle for the gold.

Jack Perry Escapes New York With AEW Gold

The match itself was chaos as six men, ladders, chairs and just about everything flew through the air to the delight of the fans in New York City. With everyone seemingly out, it looked like Mark Briscoe would climb the ladder to add the TNT title to his ROH World Championship, but a scapegoat awaited.

Jack Perry pinned Briscoe with a ladder before repeatedly hitting him with a steel chair. Perry then climbed the ladder to retrieve the belt, becoming TNT Champion for the first time in his AEW career.
