Pittsburgh named one of the best weekend getaways in the US

Fancy a weekend getaway to have some fun or just relax a bit?

I bet I know your answer. Of course you are. Sometimes it feels so good to shake up your routine a little. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut from day to day.

Okay, you’re ready to go, but where are you going?

You can’t go too far as you only have two days to get there, squeeze in as much fun as possible and get back home as your work week starts bright and early again on Monday morning.

In addition, you must take the costs into account. Don’t you hate that? Haha.

I’ve found the perfect list for you. TimeOut has put together a guide to the ‘Best Weekend Getaways in the US for 2024’.

Lucky for you, of the 17 cities on the list, one is in Pennsylvania.

Does anyone dare to give it a try?

It’s Pittsburgh.

If you think it might be too far to drive, don’t worry: Pittsburgh has an airport. That would be a quick and easy flight, totally doable for a weekend.

Here’s what TimeOut said about the vibrant city: “Tucked in the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh offers a retreat that combines city amenities, plenty of green space, and plenty of charm.”

I have friends with children who attend the University of Pittsburgh and they agree that it is a great city.

The article went like this: “The city sparkles in the spring with beautiful parks (wander through Point State Park and visit Blue Slide Park, made famous by rapper Mac Miller).”

The city is also home to the Warhol Museum. You can take a ride on the slope and enjoy the beautiful view. And if you like pickles, check out the dates of Picklesburgh, a food festival for pickle lovers.
