Team Canada announces training camp roster with OKC Thunder standouts

The Oklahoma City Thunder will have a lot to monitor this summer between the Olympics, Summer League and internal development. One of the main teams to be followed during the Olympics is Team Canada, which has a pair of OKC Thunder standouts on its roster.

When Team Canada announced their training camp roster on Wednesday, it was not surprising that Superstar and MVP runner-up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were in attendance with defensive ace Lu Dort alongside him. The Canadians appear to be a formidable selection to take home the gold at the Paris Games.

Joining Gilgeous-Alexander and Dort will be no shortage of NBA stars — a total of 15 members with NBA experience (including newcomer Zach Edey) are listed in the team’s training camp book. Team Canada begins camp in Toronto on June 28.

Their training camp will include an exhibition match with Team USA on July 10 and Team France on a date to be determined.

Team Canada will have to reduce their camp roster from 20 to 12 with a target date of the team they ship from Vegas on July 11 after their clash with Team USA. Barring injury, Thunder standouts Gilgeous-Alexander and Dort are locked in to make the roster and be heavily part of the rotation mix for Team Canada.

Currently, Canada appears primed for a deep Olympic run with a plethora of NBA stars headlined by Gilgeous-Alexander and Nuggets star Jamal Murray. A mix of scorers and defensemen will make the Canadians a force in Paris.
