I-15 to 215 connector closed in Midvale due to kink in road

MIDVAL – The Utah Department of Transportation said Wednesday that a portion of Interstate 15 was closed due to buckling during the first heat wave of Utah’s approaching summer season.

On Wednesday around 7 p.m., UDOT said it was closing the northbound lanes of I-15 that lead to the southbound belt of Interstate 215.

UDOT’s John Gleason said the northbound connector exit to Interstate 215 would be closed for several hours.

While the excessive heat warning mainly affected southern Utah, Gleason confirmed that the road was warped due to the high temperatures. He said there was no further danger to the public.

UDOT estimated the clearing time Wednesday at 9 p.m.
