Gov. Aiyedatiwa flags off the construction of a 1,000-meter concrete walkway in Ilaje LG, Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has halted the construction of a 1,000-metre concrete walkway with associated scaffolding at Obe-Nla community in Ilaje Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The concrete walkway, which will have street lights to illuminate the path of users, is a departure from the usual construction of wooden structures in coastal areas of the state.

Dignitaries including traditional rulers, notable sons and daughters of Ilaje graced the occasion which spoke volumes about the importance of the project.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said the initiative is a testament to his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life of residents.

Stressing his government’s commitment to the development of the state, he said the project will change the narrative of underdevelopment in riverine communities.

The Governor recognized the community’s long-standing demand for a durable and safe concrete walkway, hence the decision to build one for them.

He assured residents of the area that the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, will receive the statutory 40 percent of the 13 percent oil diversion fund for the state as frontline levy.

The Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan, said the project will bring rapid development to the oil producing communities.

The state government says it is determined to change the face of oil producing communities.
